Tips for the booking calendar:
Bookings can be made no less than 7 days in advance on the calendar, if you wish to make a booking within the next week please email or phone Kate on 07794 268059.
Please note when booking the Beech Hut it will offer ‘nightly stays’. The booking platform cannot cope with day hire; please book the date you want and ignore the ‘nightly’ rates – the hire period will be for the date booked from 10am until 4pm.
Payment schedule
A non-refundable 20% deposit is required to secure your booking. If not received when requested after booking, the dates booked will be released for hire again.
The remaining balance will be due 6 weeks before your booking date. A payment link will be emailed to you for this.
If booking less than 6 weeks before the booking date, full payment will be required to secure your booking.
Cancellation Policy
Bookings for Shining Cliff hostel and the Woodland Hut have the following cancellation policy in place:
- The 20% booking deposit is non-refundable.
- 50% of total booking charge if you cancel 42–31 days before your arrival date.
- 100% of total booking charge if you cancel 30 days or less before your arrival date.
- If you cancel the booking and the Hostel/Hut is re-let to another guest at the same hire price for the dates you booked, then your payment will be refunded, minus the 20% deposit and the Stripe payment processing fees.
Exceptional events
The hostel is uniquely situated in an off-road woodland setting and therefore can be affected by exceptional weather conditions such as snow, ice and wind.
In the event Amber or Red met office weather warnings for snow forecast in the woodland on the day of your arrival your booking will be reviewed and alternative dates will be offered if applicable.
In the event of Red met office weather warnings for strong winds forecast in the woodland on the day of your arrival your booking will be reviewed and alternative dates will be offered if applicable.
Shining Cliff Centre CIC is not liable to guests for any happenings outside its’ reasonable control such as damage resulting from exceptional weather conditions or other unforeseeable circumstances, such as power cuts or appliances failing.
Additional Charge Policy
Minor damages and breakages will not normally be charged for, except in circumstances where extra cleaning is required or there is damage beyond what is reasonably expected.
Shining Cliff Centre CIC reserves the right to charge the guests for any additional costs incurred as a consequence and may, at their discretion, refuse any future bookings or may request a refundable £100 bond on a future booking, to use as needed to cover additional costs incurred. The bond will be returned within 7 days of the departure date if the hostel/hut is left in the good condition found on your arrival day.
An additional charge of £30 per hour is applied if any rubbish or firewood is left on site that must be removed by Shining Cliff Centre CIC or if exceptional cleaning or maintenance is required after your stay.
Dogs
Although dogs are welcome to stay at Shining Cliff hostel, please adhere to the guidance on keeping your dog under close control by using a short lead, especially during breeding season (March-August) for ground nesting birds in the woodland.
A dog kit box is available on request, this has 2 dog bowls and a dog blanket to save guests having to carry their own to the hostel.
